On this business trip to Xiamen, I deliberately avoided the crowded internet famous hotels on Huandao Road and chose Xiamen Miramar Hotel. This old luxury hotel, which opened in 1988 and was renovated in 2020, surprised me more than expected after staying for three consecutive days. It is completely different from the dull feeling of an "old hotel" in the stereotype.
It only takes 15 minutes to drive from Takasaki Airport, and there are almost no detours along the way. The private parking lot in front of the hotel is very spacious, so if you drive here, you don't have to look for parking spaces in the surrounding area. As soon as I entered the lobby, the atmosphere of the old Xiamen Business Hotel was overwhelming. There were no overly piled up internet celebrity decorations, and the calm and elegant style exuded a texture that had been accumulated for more than 30 years. The front desk staff acted quickly when checking in and learned that I was going to work in the surrounding industrial park the next day. They specially arranged a room on the inner side of the high area for me, saying that this location was quiet and would not be disturbed by traffic.
The Lizhi big bed room I live in has a refreshing and spacious 28 square meter space, and the support of the Jinkeer mattress is just right. The day before, after running to the industrial park all day, my feet were tired and heavy. When I lay down on the bed, my sore back quickly relaxed. The room is equipped with tea sets for meeting guests. After finishing work, I can take a cup of Anxi Tieguanyin Tea with me. I lean against the window to see the street view of the Huli District downstairs, and the tension of the whole day slowly dissipates. The TOTO smart toilet is particularly easy to use, and the quality of the details is not inferior to many newly opened high-end hotels.
The hotel's facilities are surprisingly rich: the water quality of the outdoor swimming pool is maintained very clean, and after finishing work in the evening, I went for a swim twice. The river breeze wrapped in water vapor blew on me, and the exhaustion of the journey was instantly relieved. The equipment in the gym is well maintained. Sitting for a whole day in meetings during the day and running for half an hour at night can help stretch the stiff and sedentary body. The Singaporean cuisine at Longcheng Chinese Restaurant is particularly authentic, while the fresh sashimi at the Japanese restaurant is full. You don't have to travel far to enjoy a variety of flavors. The breakfast buffet is also very diverse, even offering warm Japanese ginger soup.
The biggest advantage is the convenience of the surrounding area: it is adjacent to the Xiamen Special Economic Zone Memorial Hall, Huamei Space, and Xiangyu Bonded Zone. In leisure time, you can walk for more than ten minutes to visit the cultural and creative park, and easily take photos full of the old Xiamen industrial style. The hotel is located in a prime business area in Huli District, surrounded by local snack shops that hide many old brands. You don't have to squeeze into popular tourist shops, just take a turn downstairs and you can enjoy authentic sand tea noodles and oyster omelettes.
I used to think that the highlights of accommodation in Xiamen were mainly concentrated on Huandao Road, but after staying at Xiamen Miramar Hotel this time, I realized that this old hotel, which has been settled for more than 30 years, hides the most authentic quality of old Xiamen life.
